Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele: This workshop will take you through the main stages of applying for a job in English. It consists of two modules:
Module I: Writing Effective Résumés / CVs provides participants with an understanding of the function and an outline of the components of an effective résumé. We will look at how to develop and then write a winning cover letter and résumé. We will go over skills that employers look for and how to emphasize those skills in your writing. We will also talk about cultural differences, including what you should leave out of your English résumé and what must be included.
This workshop offers attendees an opportunity to have their résumé reviewed by the instructor and their peers. Please bring a résumé to the first meeting.
Module II: Preparing for a Job Interview in English: Firstly, this includes learning business buzzwords, learning to access one's own skills, and practicing small talk. We will also talk about cultural differences in the interview process.
We will look at things you should and shouldn't do and things you should and shouldn't say during an interview. We will go over some common mistakes people make when speaking English. We will then go on to interview questions. Time will be devoted to practicing answers to some of the most frequently
asked and most difficult interview questions. And lastly, we will discuss proper ways to follow-up after the interview. Students will then have the chance to practice what they have learned in mock interviews. After attending this workshop, participants will be well-prepared to master a job interview in English.

UNIcert® IV

Adressaten: Students of all departments and auditors (Gasthörer) who were placed at this level by our placement test or who have successfully completed a course which qualifies them to continue at this level.
Workshop fee: 15,- € (fee for auditors 50,- €).
Lehrwerk: Will be distributed in class.
Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele: A study at the Stanford School of Business tracked MBAs 10 years after they graduated. The result? Their grades had no bearing on their success - but their ability to converse with others did. Being able to connect with others through small talk is a skill needed by every professional when networking. This interactive workshop will teach you what to say and how to communicate in key social situations, how to
- strike up conversations and keep them going
- mingle with ease
- become an active listener
- avoid "conversation killers" and cultural taboos.
Leistungsnachweis: Oral grade based on language use in class and oral report, and a final written test (2 hrs). Participants at C2 level will, however, be expected to evince a higher level of proficiency. Simulation.
