Aufbau des Kurses:	This is a course for students who are looking for extra speaking practice and a way to become more self-confident when speaking English. There will be a strong emphasis on vocabulary expansion and on using the newly-acquired vocabulary in extended discussions. Students will also learn to use functional language (how to keep a conversation going or kill it, how to interrupt, etc.) so that their spoken English becomes more natural and effective.

Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele:	This course focuses on improving listening strategies and spoken fluency. Using authentic audio and audio-visual materials (radio talk shows, interviews, etc.), students will listen to and talk about interesting topics at length, viewing them from different angles. Students will practice listening for information, interpreting what they have heard, and predicting what will be said next. Discussions will encourage both fluency and accuracy. Vocabulary expansion will be an important element in this course.

It consists of two modules: Module I: Writing Effective Résumés / CVs provides participants with an understanding of the function and an outline of the components of an effective résumé. We will look at how to develop and then write a winning cover letter and résumé. We will go over skills that employers look for and how to emphasize those skills in your writing. We will also talk about cultural differences, including what you should leave out of your English résumé and what must be included. This workshop offers attendees an opportunity to have their résumé reviewed by the instructor and their peers. Please bring a résumé to the first meeting. Module II: Preparing for a Job Interview in English: Firstly, this includes learning business buzzwords, learning to access one's own skills, and practicing small talk. We will also talk about cultural differences in the interview process. We will look at things you should and shouldn't do and things you should and shouldn't say during an interview. We will go over some common mistakes people make when speaking English. We will then go on to interview questions. Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele:	This course offers students with an advanced command of English the opportunity to activate their passive word power by discussing thought-provoking and complex ideas as well as current issues in a small group. Stylistically challenging articles will be used as the basis for discussion and group tasks.Vocabulary expansion will be an important element in the course.

Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele:	This workshop will begin with a quick review of the elements, stages, cultural aspects and tactics of negotiations. Students will then prepare a case study scenario in detail, focusing on working with language skillfully thoughout the progressive stages of the negotiation. They will be expected to reach a final consensus which is in line with definable negotiating strategies.
Leistungsnachweis:	Oral grade based on active and reliable participation in group work, a case study negotiation, and peer evaluation / analysis in the follow-up procedure. Participants at C2 level will, however, be expected to show a higher level of proficiency.

Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele:	The two intercultural workshops will make you aware of your own cultural values when meeting students from a different culture. The first workshop focuses on making students aware of their inherent values and cultural norms when dealing with members from a different culture and expands on strategies how to interact sensitively, and how to notice and resolve misunderstandings that are based on cultural differences. The second workshop,which will be offered towards the end of the semester, will wrap up the project and review intercultural problems/ misunderstandings that students may have encountered with their partners in the Intercultural Partnering Project.

Aufbau des Kurses/Lernziele:	The communication course will supplement the workshops by focusing on specific communication situations where cultural differences may lead to misunderstandings, e.g. perceiving the communication partner as rude because he/she does not engage in small talk, is too direct, etc. The course will provide an introduction to differing concepts (e.g. concept of time, friendship etc.) and differing communication strategies in both cultures as well as practice in specific situations.It will serve as a discussion forum for intercultural problems/ misunderstandings encountered in the actual partnering project.
